Copper River, here we come !

In Seward, we stayed at the Seward Military Resort RV park since Connie is a “card holder” because her husband was in the Air Force.  Lots of fishermen with boats staying here.

While in Seward we found yet another fudge shop.  Can you imagine that?  We did find a fabric shop, but it was Sunday and they opened late.  Darn.  Then we also went to the Alaska SeaLife Center and these photos are some of what we saw.

Seward sits on Resurrection Bay and is a fishing port, a shipping port and also a stop over for cruise ships.  The coastal mountain rise straight up from the sea and soar above the town.  There were some sights both in to Seward and again, coming out that we just had to post.  To prove we had construction and dirt roads, this one.

Also, a lake whose color was so beautiful – that glacial silt grey/blue that we’ve seen so much up here.  This was Kenai Lake.

On to Anchorage before we turn east to Copper River because I have to find a new battery for the generator.  Not sure what kind of power we will find at fish camp and we have to keep the freezer going as much as we can.  We took out the regular food in the freezer and put it in the ice chest with dry ice and ice packs so we would have room for the fish.  Finding the battery was a little stressful because, being Monday, the Honda shop was closed and Batteries Plus was on the other side of Anchorage and on the other side of a big construction zone and a bunch of detours.  I got into a space crunch and had to turn the rig around while I stopped traffic both directions and I didn’t have 40 acres either.  We found the store, they had the battery and I installed it into the generator before Connie even knew I was back.

We stayed overnight in Anchorage because it was getting late and this time we stayed at Elmendorf Air Force Base and it was so nice parked among the tall pines again.  We even went to the PX and Connie did a little shopping.  Tomorrow, I promise, we will be on the Glen Highway headed for more fishing at fish camp on the Copper River.

Lesson for today is “My” lesson:  Consider unhooking the trailer and just take the truck when looking for an address in a city I’m not familiar with.  Especially at the city’s lunch hour and there is gobs of construction with oodles of detours.  Honestly, Jane  Sad smile  Sure didn’t win any friends in Anchorage.
